Before and After
Just wanted to post a picture of me taken this afternoon after donating 12 inches of hair to Locks of Love. I started growing it out at the end of last year, thinking that by the beginning of summer I'd be ready. It took a little longer than that, but I finally had enough to donate. I provided a link to their site, but for those of you who just want the short version, Locks of Love is an organization that provides wigs made from real human hair to financially disadvantaged children who suffer long-term hair loss---like from chemotherapy. I went to Salon Red in Decatur and they were wonderful! They cut it off in 2 ponytails and even packaged it up and will send it in for me. All I had to do was fill out a short form. I have to admit, with as hot as this summer has been, I had no qualms whatsoever about getting all of those heavy curls cut off. I feel 10 pounds lighter (no mean feat for a pregnant lady) and a whole lot cooler. Not to mention pretty darn good that all that hair will go to someone who will appreciate it far more than I will. Besides, I can always grow more :).
